Question: Chanting or Spiritual Master?
What is the most important aspect in spiritual life, is it chanting or accepting a spiritual master?
Answer: Both Are Most Important.
You can't separate them because pure chanting requires obedience to the spiritual master, and the spiritual master requires his disciple to develop pure chanting. Therefore both accepting a spiritual master and the chanting of the holy names are most important.
